Wowzers, what can I say?! This was the most magical, special, romantic, loving, spiritual, present, fun, breathtaking, elegant, happiest day of my life! I had heard from family, friends, aquanitances and even strangers that this would be the best day of our life and I didn’t quite believe them, but boy were they RIGHT!

Where do I even begin with this post!? I’ve thought long and hard about this blog post, so here it goes straight from my very big heart!

As most of you may be aware (or may not), we recently traveled back to our roots, the beautiful green “Emerald Isle” to get married! We chose Spring (in the Northern Hemisphere) for a few reasons; one of the biggest reasons was that Spring is full of transformation so it seemed like a perfect time for us to take the next stage in our lives together! Also the temperature in Spring increases to a more bearable degree (ok so maybe this isn’t the case in Ireland!).The leaves that have fallen and the flowers that have wilted are now budding into lush, green, picture-perfect plants. Aside from the weather’s transformations that occur in the Spring season, we are transforming our lives too.

Every season is a special and magical time of year to have a wedding. There is however something quite special about spring time meaning new beginnings; we felt it set a perfect stage for us to start our new life together. There was also the March equinox which happened a day before our wedding which made it even more special.

“On the equinox, night and day are nearly exactly the same length – 12 hours – all over the world. This is the reason it’s called an “equinox”, derived from Latin, meaning “equal night”. The March equinox occurs the moment the sun crosses the celestial equator – the imaginary line in the sky above the Earth’s equator – from south to north. In the northern hemisphere the March equinox marks the start of spring and has long been celebrated as a time of rebirth.”

Another reason we chose March was that it seemed like the best time to take a honeymoon in Central America. This was our intended honeymoon destination but unfortunately it didn’t quite work out and instead we went to the very magical and explosion of life that is Marrakesh in Morocco!

I arrived home 2 weeks prior to our wedding (my hubby had flown a week prior to me) and within those weeks we had so much to organize! As you can imagine there’s only so much organisation you can do from the other side of the world! It’s all those little things that when you add them up together they become big things! Let’s just say they kept us pretty busy and chaotic!

The day before the day before was all about pampering and restoration! I truly welcomed this day of relaxation (2 days prior to the wedding) when everything was pretty much done now so I could truly relax!

I spent the day in a health spa with my mum and three sisters (my bridesmaids) and it was so wonderfully perfect! We started with a dip in the pool and then moved to the hot tub which was outside (yup it was freezing cold outside, if you follow my facebook page you’ll have noticed I posted some pictures of some snow while I was home) however it was warm inside under the water and that’s all that mattered though! This was followed by a blissful one hour aromatherapy oil massage – heaven! We finished our day with some yummy dinner on site! By the end of the day, I honestly was feeling calm, collected and content!

I got up early and pottered around. Today was all about the last minute beauty treatments (pedicure, manicure and waxing).

One final trip was taken over to the castle that evening to drop our luggage (for our 2 night stay + honeymoon), table settings, flowers for the mothers etc – lets just say it was a fully packed car!!

Can I just say how incredibly amazing my family were in those special days in the lead up to our special day. They were all there on hand helping and assisting. They may agree otherwise, but each and everyone of them played a very important role in making our day so special! In the lead up to the day, dinner was cooked for me and I was seriously looked after very well and honestly felt like a princess!

My amazing brother literally did not stop working; no job was too much for him! Between cleaning the wedding cars, pulling weeds from the garden and driving me around the country he was kept super busy!

My mum thought of everything I somehow easily manged to forget – she was amazing! From  organizing everything within the church (flowers on the seats), leaving wedding balloons and signs out for our guests to ensure they didn’t get lost, this amazing woman I’m proud to call my mum was an absolute star!

I’m sharing my day in pictures below with you.

As some of you may know, my granny passed away late last year. I always thought she would be there for our special day. She lived in a small flat next door to me my whole life (until I moved to Sydney) so you could say we were close. I shared a post last year over here about how I grieved her loss.

My mum made the loveliest suggestion that we have our hair and make-up done in her house the morning of the wedding. With being on the other side of the world and missing her funeral last year, this was just so perfect! I could feel her presence with me all morning and in fact for the entire day! She truly was there in spirit.

Gosh, that morning was emotional! I had Snatam Kaur, along with Edo + Jo playing in the background, the most perfect music to set off my special day. There was floods of emotions coming up that morning, all of course very happy and special moments! I don’t think I’ve ever been so present, I truly felt them deep within my heart.

I love this photo, so much happiness!

Happy, happy tears!

Once they started I couldn’t stop – tissues passed to me left, right + center!

My rollers just came out (looking a little like Curly Sue -))!

My dashing husband heard I had just arrived (I did leave him waiting nearly 30mins -))

Stepping out of the car, with my amazing chief bridesmaid “Grainne” on hand to assist!

Walking up the isle with my dad (very special moment + powerful moment I’ll cherish in my heart forever)

An emotional but very beautiful moment – my dad giving me away at the altar

As I stood there on the alter hand in hand with my “almost” husband, it hit me on how incredibly blessed I was. As I looked around, I could see the face of nearly every true friend (apart from our friends here in Aus of course) I have ever had, to have the loving support of my three amazing bridesmaids (standing by my side) and brother, to see family and friends who had traveled from near and far to be with us, to have parents who have shown me so much love, and to look into the eyes of the most amazing man I knew would stand by me forever, in sickness and in health, til death do us part. It’ very hard to explain in words the depth of love I felt that day, but it is something I will never EVER forget.

My fit of nervous giggles during our vows

During the ceremony when it was time to exchange vows, I suddenly felt my nerves gush all at once. If you know me very well, you’ll know that when I get nervous I get very giddy and smile a lot! Anyway it came to my turn, I suddenly went blank and broke out into a fit of giggles and couldn’t stop until I saw the priest give me the eye! A very funny moment, all captured on video thanks to Dave’s uncle!

We’re married! Can you see and feel all that love and happiness!

My loving parents sitting right there at the front

Big thanks to my Mum, Dad (thanks so much for walking me up the isle), all three bridesmaids my sisters Sinead, Grainne + Mairead(especially my chief bridesmaid Grainne who was beyond words incredible), my brother Micheal, my new family (Margaret + Michael (Dave’s parents) + Linda (my new sister in-law), my Granny (who had passed away a couple of months previously who I’d always thought would be there on the day; well guess what she was – I felt her presence by my side all day), my uncle Jimmy who drove me and my Dad to the church in his exquisite vintage car and then Dave and I on to the castle, my amazing photographer Therese who managed to capture every special moment for us (we’re absolutely blown away by her talents), my amazing hairdresser Cathy + make-up artist Zoe Clark (thanks from the bottom of my heart for making me so beautiful), my florist who created my beautiful bouquets as well as all the flowers for the ceremony and the flowers for the mothers of the brides, our wedding cake maker who created the beautiful fresh cream sponge (simple yet so delicious), all the staff at Cabra Castle, our fantastic wedding band “The Swing Cats”, our good friend and amazing DJ Chymera who played all the right tunes to get everyone on the floor, all our friends who traveled near and far to be with us that day (you know who you are). Everyone mentioned above made our day very magical and we thank you from the very bottom of our hearts!

As you can see above, this is only part 1 of our wedding journey which means I’ll be sharing some more photos and of course all the details! I’ll be back again in a few days sharing part 2 with you all!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and if you’re already married, that it has brought some happy memories back of your special day. If you’re still to be married, well all I can say is lucky you! This will be the best day and most perfect day of your life yet!

Until then, so much Love, Light, Happiness, Laughter + Blessings to you,
