Nicole-B-W-716x1024I’m so happy to bring ‘Heart and Soul Inspiring Women’ series. I will be featuring inspiring amazing women that are changing lives but that also radiate a beautiful lightness about them. These women that I will be sharing with you are shining their lights so brightly, following their dreams, living in their truth and in my eyes are living and breathing their yoga.

It’s been a while, but I’m happy to bring you the ”The Heart and Soul Inspiring Women Series” interviews back today. I’m thrilled to be kicking them off with this incredible and gorgeous soul Nicole Daboul.

I met Nicole at KM Yoga last year (she is one of the lovely teachers). I attended a Sadhana practice she was running at the studio and later I found out this was her very first one (I was in shock, I would never have guessed – she was such a natural!). All I recall was a beautiful beam of light radiating from her. She is a gifted teacher and is always beaming the most beautiful smile. If you don’t believe me, go ahead and try one of her gorgeous classes out for yourself!

I can relate very much to what Nicole has to say and share with us today. We have very similar backgrounds and I can relate very much about she saids about moving away from the party scene and those feelings of isolation etc. We’ve also both taken the brave leap of leaving a secure job behind to follow our passions.

I admire Nicole and I LOVE what she has to share from her heart with you today.

I can’t wait to share her story with you. Get ready to feel inspired by another amazing woman who walks her talk!

Q. Tell us a little bit about yourself and what you do?

Hello, thanks for having me. I’m Nicole and I guess I’m a bit of a slashy. I’m a creative with many creative outlets. I’m a kundalini yoga teacher, one half of The Living Lunchbox (a business I started with my friend and fellow yogi Tyler) and I also work as a freelance Art Director/Producer.

It changes every day. No two days are the same. On any given day I could start by doing my personal practice at home or I go to Centennial Park. Then I could be off to teach a yoga class and then go to an office to do some freelance work. On a Tuesday my day starts at the crack of dawn at Sydney Markets gathering produce for my lunch business, then we spend the rest of the day making market fresh salads and juices and raw chocolate treats to deliver to offices all over Sydney. My favourite days are days ‘off’… free time. Love starting the day with brekkie somewhere, usually at Porch in Bondi, then a swim, some exercise, maybe some work from home or on my laptop (which means I can work from anywhere – how ace is that!). It’s so varied and wonderful.

Q. What are some of the obstacles you have encountered on your path, and how did you push past them?

Obstacles have been a feeling of isolation or separation as I started to move more and more towards a committed and clear path. I stopped drinking, which meant that a huge social aspect of ‘regular’ life was removed which felt very challenging. The clearer I got the less I wanted to spend time in bars or out at noisy parties. I felt like I struggled connecting with people even when I did venture out mainly because I longed for deeper connections, and also because I felt far less confident without drinking and I was yet to come to a place (where I am now) where I tapped into that place naturally. It was extremely hard and I often wondered if it was worth it, why was I choosing this? I often questioned myself as I spent yet another Friday night at home, alone. I pushed through though and now on the other side I am surrounded by like minded friends (who are more like my family) and who share a similar lifestyle and support me in everything I do.

Q. Who and what inspires you?

I’m inspired by my teachers, some of the Kundalini Yoga masters in LA like Guru Singh, Tej and Harijiwan. Yogi Bhajan, the Master who brought Kundalini Yoga to the west in 1969. He had a calling and went against all odds and logic to pursue it. He shared this life changing technology with us and I’m thankful every day because it HAS CHANGED my LIFE… My business partner and best friend Tyler inspires me. His commitment to the path and his beautiful heart and creativity.. all of my friends really. I’m incredibly blessed to be surrounded by so many amazing people who continually challenge and inspire each other to grow and live the life of their dreams. And we dream BIG.

Q. How do you get balance in your life?

Ahhh balance, that old chestnut. I keep adjusting this… but I have left a full time career to work for myself and bring in to my life more of what I love. The transition was hard, but I have now created the ability to be able to work when I need to. Rather than working 60 hours a week, I work a 60 hours a month. It’s given me more space to be creative. I don’t really count teaching yoga or The Living Lunchbox as work because that is what I love to do, and I’m very blessed to be able to have time to spend sharing my love and passion for nourishing, high-vibrational and Kundalini Yoga.

Q. For a woman (or anyone starting their own business), what three things are most critical for them to be mindful of?

Have a clear vision, take ACTION, and be COURAGEOUS.

Q. What is your secret indulgence?

I’m addicted to Banjo Bears.

Q. What was the happiest moment in your life or career to date?

Couldn’t possibly limit this to one…

Q. What’s your favourite quote or personal mantra to live by?

“You surrender to a lot of things which are not worthy of you. I wish you would surrender to your radiance…your integrity…your beautiful human grace.”Yogi Bhajan

Q. How do you practice self-compassion?

Being gentle with myself, taking space when I need to.

Q. ‘Love’ means…

LOVE

Q. What’s your biggest dream?

Life is pretty dreamy right now, but my biggest dream is to be a mother someday.

Q. If you were stranded on a desert island, what three things would you want with you?

Something to play my mantras on, a Hammock and a kindle with endless books to read, given that there is an abundance of coconut water on the island and fruit to eat! I’d be sorted right?

Q. If you could give advice to my readers who are either trying to find the courage to pursue their dreams or are at the beginning of their own journey, what would it be?

Listen to YOU. Follow your heart and listen to your intuition. Your inner guidance system will never lead you astray. If I had listened to most well meaning people who had advice for me when I was about to leave my full-time job I would never have left. I would have always waited for the ‘right time’ or until I had more money saved. The right time to start living is right now. Having loads of money in the bank is great if you have it there to support you while you transition, but I wasn’t going to let that stop me. I had no idea when I left my job what was going to happen or that I was going to start my business. All I knew was I had a deep yearning within and I was being guided by my inner guiding system to make a move and to create space in which the new and the wonderful could be born. Being clear with your vision and taking ACTION is the best thing that you can do for you. Writing business plans and making vision boards is fine, but being clear in your heart and projection about your dream and what you wish to create and then taking the steps as you are guided and being COURAGEOUS. It’s not about being FEARLESS because there have been so many moments of utter fear and almost panic. Such a process. You need to feel the fear and do it anyway. It’s a cliché for a reason. Nothing great came from never taking risks. Jump and know that the universe is there to support you.

Over the last ten years Nicole has actively practiced many different forms of yoga. But it was when she stumbled into her first Kundalini Yoga class (almost by way of divine intervention), that she knew she discovered something truly special. After experiencing a profoundly positive personal transformation, Nicole made a commitment to embark on life changing journey with Kundalini Yoga. This lead her all the way to Española New Mexico where she completed the Level 1 KRI Teacher Training. Having worked as a creative her whole professional life, creativity is expressed naturally in everything she does. She has a love of food, wellness and music and loves the higher level of creativity that can be expressed and unleashed with Kundalini Yoga.
