[00:00:02] Welcome to the Energy for Life podcast helping busy women reclaim their energy, innate power and self-worth. Here is your host Corona Brady.

 

[00:00:15] Welcome back. Welcome to Episode 5. Today I’m going to be speaking to you about mastering your morning.

 

[00:00:21] The way that you start your day determines how well you live each day of your life. What do I mean by mastering your morning? This is where you establish a very specific morning routine or ritual that’s really going to fuel you. It prepares your body and mind for the day ahead and it gives you an exceptional daily life headstart while everyone else is still snoozing away in bed. I’m going to get into the specifics of a ritual in a moment but first know that it’s no coincidence whatsoever that most of the wildly successful happy healthy energetic people on the planet like Oprah Winfrey and Deepak Chopra to name a couple to swear by their morning rituals as being the catalyst for the huge successes that they enjoy in every area of their life. This is the missing link. Ladies if you want your life to be different you have to be willing to do something different. You might be saying to yourself right now., But Corona I’m not a morning person. I’m more of a late owl. I can’t get up early in the morning to do this. Well, guess what? You can become a morning person because I’ve been able to convert many many women just like you into my Energy Ffor Life Program in becoming morning people. It just takes practice. You might also be thinking to yourself, you know maybe I could do this ritual stuff in the evening. Yes, I’ll get it done in the evening or possibly in the afternoon.

 

[00:02:04] See the thing is and you know this yourself, extra time just doesn’t show up during the day. The day gets away from us. And by the time the evening comes you’re so tired that just to focus is quite challenging right? And you’re not in the state of mind for personal development. I know that personally I really believe the morning time is the best time for me to do this and I’ll share more on that in a second. You must master your morning and you must make this a morning practice because when you start your morning like this it’s going to really kick-start your day. It’s going to put you in such a positive space for your day that you’ll become more energized, you’ll have more clarity, you will be more focused, you’ll be more motivated, you’ll be able to handle any challenge that comes your way and you’ll be able to make those little decisions we all encounter. Each day benefits from your morning practice. So how do you craft this morning ritual? Well, through the hundreds of women whom I’ve had the absolute privilege to coach and support over the last eight years I would say this practice has to be one of the quickest game changers in terms of immediate positive impact on their lives. Now please do not dismiss this because of how simple it is. Implement it and you’re going to be amazed, actually, you’re going to be shocked how quickly your life will improve. Remember it’s these subtle nuances in behavior that once we adopt them.

 

[00:03:50] It’s those little hinges that swing big doors wide open. Carving out that sacred energizing time for you in the morning is powerful. If you’re saying to yourself right now I’m not a morning person. I’m grumpy in the morning my head is in the fog. Please don’t worry. This is a simple process that will take you from dead in your bed to wide awake and ready to take on the day in just a couple of minutes. If you’re like a lot of people and you’re a huge fan of that snooze button then here’s what you need to do the night before you go to sleep. Set your alarm clock and you’re going to leave it on the other side of the room. Why do I say this? Well, you probably have a bedside table that you set your clock on you. When your alarm clock is right beside you, that snooze button is way too easily accessible for you to roll over and hit snooze. By putting the alarm clock on the other side of the room, you actually have to consciously get up out of bed. That’s going to send signals to your brain that sleep time is over. With this momentum straight after your alarm clock is off you move directly to the bathroom and immediately throw cold water on your face. You can even have a cold shower if you’re really brave.

 

[00:05:15] Jump in the shower and have a cold shower. Throwing water on your face is more than enough though.  Cold water on your face is really going to refresh you, it’s going to wake you up and take you out of that haze and fog and take you out of that really early morning kind of sleepiness. Next, you’re going to immediately move into another conscious action and you’re going to begin to just brush your teeth. And this is another kind of indicator where you’re telling your brain it’s time to wake up. And by now you should really begin to feel the initial sleep fog is lifting. Next, you’re going to go into your kitchen. You’re going to fill up a glass of water. You’re going to drink the entire glass of water because here’s the thing. Dehydration adds to fatigue and tiredness and you’ve been asleep for maybe seven hours or eight hours or maybe some of you nine hours. So giving yourself a glass of water first thing is going to awaken the metabolism and it’s going to restore your depleted body and brain. Now you’ve completed your wakeup ritual. It’s time to then fill up your cup. So what do I mean by that? You fill up your self-care cup. There are a few different things that you can do to fill your cup. I’m going to give you some powerful ideas. Today you can choose a combination of your favorite of these or you might decide to just do them all. You fill up yourself. The first thing you should do is spend a little bit of time meditating sitting in silence, praying and focusing on your breath by doing some powerful breath work to get you into that beautiful serene state.

 

[00:06:54] I personally use some really powerful Kundalini breath work every morning and these are the practices that I also teach in my Energy For Life Academy. This is how I start my day. Every single morning no exception with meditation and breathing techniques. By focusing on your breath and just performing some really powerful breathing exercises, straight away your stress is just going to melt away. You’re going to feel a sense of calmness an this is going to wash all over your body. It’s going to wash your mind, leaving you focused, centered and peaceful. Next, you can maybe do some affirmations. Affirmations are really great because they’re a really powerful reminder of the unlimited potential that is actually within you. It’s within each and every one of us. You can create your own affirmations or you can borrow some of these that I’m going to share with you here today.

 

“Today I am brimming with energy and overflowing with joy.”

“I’m superior to negative thoughts and low actions.

“Creative energy surges through me and leads me to new and brilliant ideas.”

“I’m courageous and I stand up for myself.”

“I acknowledge my own self-worth.”

“My confidence is soaring.”

“I wake up today with strength in my heart and clarity in my mind.”

“I am at peace with all that has happened, is happening and will happen.”

“Today I abandon my old habits and I take up new more positive ones.”

 

I like to have three or four at any one time that covers relationships, spirituality, my business, my mission etc. You can write down your affirmations. You can affirm them for yourself every single day. But it’s really important when you’re affirming these power statements to yourself. You do it with emotion and you do it with feeling and you really get into it.

 

[00:08:53] You move around and you create some body language while you say them as this motion creates and heightens the emotion you attach to them and will, therefore, imprint your conscious and subconscious mind more effectively. It’s going to make you feel so empowered and it’s going to change your life. Ok so you’ve woken up, you’ve hydrated, you’ve meditated, you’ve done some breath work, you’ve engaged with your goals and your dreams with your affirmations. You’re feeling really good. What’s next, visualization? You close your eyes and you start thinking vividly about those things you truly desire to bring into your life. You sit there for five minutes to ten minutes. You shift your awareness to each of the images in your mind that represent what it will look like once you’ve achieved that unique goal or dream. You move from image to image building the picture in your mind’s eye with as much richness as you can and you bring all of your senses into the picture. Don’t just see, touch it, hear it, smell it and feel it. Make it a vivid movie in the theatre of your mind. Really feel into it with every fiber of your being. It’s magic and when done right you’ll actually begin to release feel-good hormones into your bloodstream making you feel happy, super positive filled with self-belief, inspired and wiring your brain for success. Are you starting to recognize the simple power and importance of mastering your morning? You’re only about 20 minutes into your morning ritual at this stage and you’re already primed for greatness. So what can we do next, movement?

 

[00:10:36] A lot of women get stuck on this one because they feel like they need to be doing an hour of exercise every morning. But I say absolutely not. You can do 10 minutes, just a single 10 minutes and that’s going to set you up for your day. What could you do? You can do anything that gets your blood flowing and your heart rate up a little. You could do some short yoga stretches. I personally love doing some powerful Kundalini Kriyas. You can do some pushups. You can do some planks. You could do a couple of some sun salutes or you could actually jog on the spot for a minute. Or you could go for a gentle jog around your block for 10 minutes for 15 minutes. This is a really wonderful way to start your day because you’re getting fresh blood, you’re moving it and you’re circulating it. And the prana which is your own life force energy is moving as well. It’s flooding your body. It’s releasing this stagnant energy and it’s nourishing all of your cells and all of your organs. It is quite a payoff for just a 10-minute investment right? So you’re feeling alive now. Now you take a rest and you can read. How many of us have a mountain of books just gathering dust on our bookshelf?. You can spend 10 minutes that’s it reading in the morning. This is going to inspire you. It’s going to give you some new ideas for your day. As well it’s going to help you feel motivated. Reading just 10 pages a day could get you through a 300-page book each month. You do the numbers. That’s 12 books a year.

 

[00:12:12] The regular person reads an average of one book a year. So think of the head start and impact you will impact that this piece of your morning ritual will have on your life. Last but not least you get out your journal and you write. You know the famous author Joan Didion said, “I don’t know what I think until I write it down”. So keeping a daily journal keeps your mindset positive. It reconnects you with your goals every day. It allows you to record your daily progress. It keeps your productivity really high and it keeps you nice and happy. You record your daily insights around things you learn which are going to increase your awareness, it’s going to deepen that learning into your mindset. You record your daily gratitude. I love to journal about what I’m grateful for, writing down in your journal five to ten different things that you’re grateful for every single day, will absolutely change your life. It will take you out of any depression, any fog or flat feeling that might be weighing you down. It’s going to make you feel so much lighter and it’s going to uplift your spirits. You can also use your journal to write down what you’re going to commit to in the day ahead. Relationships, health, business goals, etc. And then you can hold yourself accountable for the next day. You can kind of treat it like a little game. So there you have it. Your morning is mastered and everyone else is only just starting to drag themselves out of bed.

 

[00:13:42] You can do all of these things I described today for five to 10 minutes or you can pick a combination of them for around 60 minutes in total or more if you have time why not. I find most people once they get started actually end up getting up even earlier. So they can fit more of these life-enhancing rituals into their morning. I trust by now you can see that this one shift alone will have a profoundly positive impact on your life and how you begin and move through each day. So take Cherie, for example, Cherie was a client of mine. She came to me with so much physical pain. She was a mother of two adult children and Cherie had always put herself lost always. She worked very hard in her family business. She looked after the home, she kept everything in order and she always put herself last at the bottom of the list. She reached a point where for most of her days her own health was actually preventing her from being a part of everyday life. She feared the future. She was caught in a head full of worry. She had absolutely no self-care practices or rituals in place to fill up her cup. When we started working together Cherie learned about the vital importance of the sacred energizing morning time using just a couple of key simple rituals. She started to completely re-energize her days. It wasn’t long before the energy started to return and her previously chronic physical pain started to lessen. Today I’m happy to report that Cherie wakes up with a spring in her step. She’s so confident in herself. She’s like a different woman.

 

[00:15:29] Working together with me she has even rediscovered her life’s purpose and her passion for writing. And guess what. She’s actually in the middle of writing her first book this year. All from a simple ritual creating this sacred morning time for yourself every single day is so so powerful. I urge you to get started. I’m Corona Brady.
