[00:00:14] Welcome back. Welcome to Episode 6. Today I’m going to be talking to you about a topic that’s very close to my heart.
[00:00:25] I’m going to be speaking to you about, there’s never a good time to do things because I hear women tell me every day “right now is not the perfect time”. You see there is never going to be a good time to start a business, to have a baby, to take that trip overseas, to climb a mountain, to write that book, to learn to play an instrument, to learn to sing or dance or to do something that really matters. There’s never going to be a great time to start that new project, to pursue your dream, to join a sistermind, to make that phone call you’ve been dreading, to tell someone how you really feel. To resolve an issue, to change our habits or embrace new habits. You see time is ticking, every single day we are getting older. Life doesn’t have to give you an ideal time for anything. You just have to make it a priority and then you have to go for it. The only thing that’s standing between you and your dreams is the excuses and the stories that you’re telling yourself every single day and often some of those excuses are “I’m too tired. I don’t have the energy, I don’t have the time right now or I’m not intelligent enough. I’m not strong enough. I’m not capable. Someone else is going to do this. It’s too late now, I’m too old. Now is not the right time for me. I’m not talented. I’m not ready or I’m too scared. Nobody will help me. What if I fail. Or what if I succeed. I don’t feel motivated.”
[00:02:11] “I don’t have the life energy in me. I’d rather do nothing. I don’t have the money. I can’t afford it. I need to clear my debt first.” You see it’s really easy to come up with excuses every day and then to justify not getting started. And the longer that you fill your head with these excuses and justifications, guess what? The less time you’re going to have to take action and the further it’s going to pull you away from that life. That ideal life that you truly desire. It’s so easy to say you know because this is taking the easy road option when we do this, it’s so easy to say I’ll start when I have more experience or I’ll start when I have more time or when I have more money or more resources in my life. The sad thing is ladies though, by this time next year you’re going to have a whole bunch of more excuses. This is a cycle and once you get caught in that vicious cycle it can be really difficult to break free and go after your dreams because you’ll always have excuses stopping you. Many people are living their entire lives without ever standing up or stepping out. And you know what really lights me up. Witnessing and watching courageous women every day stepping out of their comfort zones to really make the change that they desire in their life. Most of us live with this persistent delusion that we’ll always have time to get to it. We consistently hold on to this belief and so what happens is we keep procrastinating.
[00:03:54] Then it becomes this heavy burden that’s actually weighing us down and sadly one that’s left unchecked. What’s going to happen is we’ll always default towards a more comfortable path, an easy path. You see your comfort zone provides a state of mental security. You can understand why it’s so hard to kick your brain out of your comfort zone. Our life is over in the blink of a moment. Stop getting tricked into thinking you have lots of time. Make this moment count. Stop waiting for the perfect time because there won’t be one. People who realize how little time they have and are driven to make the absolute most of it. They’re the ones who really live life fully. Do you know what studies consistently have shown? That when we look back on our lives the most common regrets are not the risks we take it’s the ones that we didn’t take. People describe on their deathbeds regrets of not doing anything always outnumbered those of doing something by nearly two to one. So some of the most common include not being confident enough, not being assertive, really failing to kind of seize the moment and going after dreams. When people reflect later in life it’s the things they did not do that creates the greatest sadness. I want you to know that you can seize the moment today, no matter who you are or what your greatest dreams and visions are. Please please remember this. No one ever came to this planet to take a backseat, to play it small. Stop questioning yourself.
[00:05:53] Stop doubting yourself. Stop judging yourself. Remember the dream you were too scared to chase, it’s still not too late to give it a shot. We tend to think that we’re not good enough and so we give up before we even start. The fear of taking risks, it’s never going to go away. It really isn’t, no matter how successful you are. But it does start to become more familiar. You’re never going to be perfect because there’s no such thing. Each of us is a work in progress. There isn’t a right time for anything. There is no such thing as perfect timing. If it feels right just go for it today. Don’t wait until everything is just perfect or right. Get started now. Where are you holding yourself back right now in your life? What excuses have you been telling yourself?
[00:06:49] Remember with each small step that you take you will grow stronger and stronger, more skilled, more and more self-confident and more and more successful.
