Welcome back. Welcome to Episode 30 of the Energy For Life Podcast Show:
Today I want to talk to you about The Real Effects Of Complaining
This episode today is inspired by a quote I saw the other day from Eckhart Tolle.
“See if you can catch yourself complaining, in either speech or thought, about a situation you find yourself in, what other people do or say, your surroundings, your life situation, even the weather. To complain is always nonacceptance of what is. It invariably carries an unconscious negative charge. When you complain, you make yourself into a victim. When you speak out, you are in your power. So, change the situation by taking action or by speaking out if necessary or possible; leave the situation or accept it. All else is madness.”
What a brilliant quote!
Complaining actually rewires your brain for more negativity. Complaining can be so tempting sometimes because it can feel good to offload but it’s really not good for you (the same way taking drugs, smoking, eating crap or consuming copious amounts of alcohol is not good for you) and it’s very disempowering to stay in a space of ‘complaining’. When you complain repeatedly this rewires your brain to complain in the future and so it becomes easier for you to slip into that space. You get stuck in a vicious cycle. Then what happens is over time your default just becomes negative and that of complaining – where you find it easier to be in a negative space than positive. There is nothing empowering whatsoever about being a victim!
